Coachella Fashion / Music Monday

While I couldn’t make it out to the desert <<tear>> for the incredible lineup, art installations and dancing in the polo fields, I’m doing a little Coachella fashion / music Monday in honor of my favorite festival that’s covering two, yes two weekends this year in the SoCal sunshine.

Coachella fashion means channeling your inner California cool meets rocker/hippie child.  Think minimal clothing with an edge in neutrals mixed with light, bright colors in natural, breezy fabrics for that desert heat.

Sadly, I have to admit that Paris Hilton kinda did it right during this first weekend with her fruit striped gum pleated maxi skirt and white bandeau top (albeit forced the look a bit in the accessory department):

As always, Diane Kruger proved to have the best Coachella style throughout Weekend 1 at the festival grounds in this cute striped dress and suede ankle boots with beau Josh Jackson:

She also nails casual California cool in Lacoste at the Lacoste L!ve Desert Pool Party:

Katy Perry’s choice for Friday has been reviewed as one of the best from the weekend but this sheer/sexy but slightly dowdy look just doesn’t bring it home for me:

Now, onto the music…my favorite thing about Coachella is discovering those artists that I necessarily didn’t come for but completely stumble upon at the show. From the vids this year, I’d have to say Miike Snow with a guest appearance from fellow Swede, Lykke Li (who’s been a favorite of mine for a while now) makes the cut:

And I can’t close out this post without mentioning one of my absolute favorite artists at Coachella this year – a little band called The Black Keys =) :

If you made it out to Indio (or didn’t like me), leave a comment and let us know your favorite artists/art/fashion/whathaveyou from the weekend.

Enjoy and hope you’re having an amazing start to your week on this gorgeous summery Monday here in New York!
