Fashion / Music Monday courtesy of Robbie Williams

On this Music Monday we’re going to mix it up a tad and feature Mr. Robbie Williams and his latest venture, high street meets Savile Row menswear line, Farrell.  While many of you in the U.S. may not be familiar with him, Rob is one of the most successful pop singers outside of the U.S. and has ridiculously good style.  I’ve been known to be a pretty big fan and when I heard he was launching a clothing line (and at my favorite department store, Selfridges, no less), I had to check it out.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out, like myself, he was inspired by and named his line after his grandfather.  While strictly a menswear line currently, the pieces are taken from WWI military looks and some of Rob’s favorite vintage pieces.  You can check out the video on GQ for the full scoop and click here to check out the collection for yourself.

Oh, and in the spirit of Music Monday, below you can have a listen to my all-time favorite Robbie Williams song, Angels. Enjoy.

With Love, From Brooklyn

It’s no secret that I absolutely love supporting and working with the bubbling entrepreneurial community of artists and startups in my little town of Brooklyn.  Needless to say, when I heard about With Love, From Brooklyn (thank you Daily Candy), I didn’t need much convincing.  Darla Furlow is definitely my kind of people, recently launching this online shop selling carefully curated care packages filled with only the best local sweet and salty treats, grouped by theme and shipped to your foodie friends, family or clients.

Of course you could always schlep around the city putting together a care package yourself, but when her baskets don’t break the bank and each product has already been taste-tested by a panel of local food lovers, how can you go wrong?  Check out Darla’s rotating selection of goodies at  With Love, From Brooklyn and let your people outside the borough know where it’s at.

My co-worker…

falling asleep on the job again…
As I grow this blog, I thought I should introduce my partner in crime (and CPO – Chief Persuasion Officer), Tank.  I adopted him back in 2009 via The French Bulldog Rescue Network, which is an amazing national organization dedicated to helping and finding new homes for abandoned and unwanted Frenchies.  How you could give up this face is beyond me, but their loss was definitely my gain.

Some random facts you should know about Tank:

  • his favorite hot spots are Fort Greene ParkSmooch Cafe and people watching on Venice Beach.
  • he’s a total sun worshipper.
  • favorite foods: chicken, cheese, broccoli, carrots and brussel sprouts (yes, he’s definitely my dog)
  • likes: cats, squirrels (see also: dislikes), his peanut butter toothpaste,  Nylabones (what boy doesn’t love bacon flavored anything?), “killing” squeak toys in 30 seconds flat
  • dislikes: having to sleep in his own bed, squirrels (queue whiplash), non-squeak toys
  • he will also be guest blogging on here from time to time, so look for his posts / rants / raves in the coming weeks on his role in the studio and adventures in New York.

I’ve just been reminded it’s dinner time, but hope you all are having a great week!

Music Monday

It’s been a crazy busy week between filling orders for my new, Garrison Clutches (which I’ll talk more about in an upcoming post), getting started on an awesome project with an uber-talented new client and planning a biz+pleasure trip back to California (yay!!!)  With that said, we’re just going to enjoy a little Music Monday with some funk/rock/electro beats straight out of the UK from my new favorite group, Fujiya & Miyagi. Enjoy and hope you’re having a great start to your week!

Welcome!

Welcome to Fritz & Fräulein’s Vintage Redesign blog, featuring favorite styles, vintage finds, interior design tips, DIY and great handmade artisans.  We’ll mix this up with a dash of our creative, life adventures – including the latest and greatest of what we’re getting up to in the studio.  Read on and enjoy!

**For those of you who don’t know Fritz & Fräulein, the company itself was born out of my love for all things vintage combined with my personal passion for sustainability and formal training in design. In my travels to flea markets around the globe, I come across gorgeous pieces that inspire me and where, oftentimes, their original use has become obsolete. I decide how I can breathe new life into them through functional redesign or simply allow them to be as they are and appreciated again in a new home. Because of the nature of the materials I work with, every piece I create is truly one-of-a-kind with an extreme attention to detail and quality. I also do custom orders and interior consultation and sourcing.

So what’s with the name? It’s a tribute to my German heritage and great grandfather, Fritz, who lived to be 103, and always said the key to a long life is to live positively, passionately, love fully and “don’t sweat the small stuff.” I carry this mantra with me everyday as I pursue building Fritz & Fräulein.

My ultimate goal is to pass along a bit of history through these pieces while enriching people’s lives with function and great design. I hope you enjoy these as much as I love discovering and creating them.**
